DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Building Bridges and Community Luncheon\, where we will highlight the importance of fostering relationships with our neighboring community\, Shilo. This event will specifically examine the significant impact of Shilo's military base on our region and discuss collaborative opportunities for strengthening community ties. Together\, we aim to build a resilient and interconnected community that thrives on mutual support and partnership.\n\n\n\nMeet the Speaker: Lieutenant-Colonel David Cronk Base Commander\, Canadian Forces Base Shilo\n\n\n\nLieutenant-Colonel David Cronk was born in Edmonton\, Alberta and enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2002 under the Direct Entry Officer program as an Armour Officer. Upon completion of French Second Language and Armour Officer Qualification training he was posted to Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) (LdSH(RC)). Lieutenant-Colonel Cronk served two regimental tours with LdSH(RC)\, with employment as a Tank Troop Leader\, Tank Squadron Battle Captain and Second-in-Command. His extra regimental service includes two tours at the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School\, where he served as an Instructor\, Course Officer\, Officer Commanding A Squadron (Tank) and Officer Commanding Standards Squadron. He completed further staff employment at the Land Forces Western Area Training Centre as the Adjutant\, Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre as an Observer Controller Trainer and as the G1\, Canadian Joint Operations Command Headquarters as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commander\, and most recently with NATO Headquarters Multinational Division-Northeast (Elblag\, Poland) as the G35 (Current Plans) Section Head. Lieutenant-Colonel Cronk has completed four operational deployments. Firstly\, to Kandahar\, Afghanistan in 2007 as part of the Joint Task Force-Afghanistan Headquarters\, again to Kandahar\, Afghanistan in 2010 as part of the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team\, to Kabul\, Afghanistan in 2013 as part of the Canadian Contribution Training Mission-Afghanistan Headquarters and finally to Ali Al Salam Airbase\, Kuwait in 2020 as part of the Joint Task ForceIMPACT Headquarters. A graduate of the Army Operations Course\, the Combat Team Commander's Course\, and the Joint Command and Staff Program. Lieutenant-Colonel Cronk holds a Bachelor of Science (Geography) from the University of Victoria and a Masters of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) Kingston. Lieutenant-Colonel Cronk is married to the much more talented and accomplished Dr. Mariola Wojtowicz.
