SUMMARY:Daly House Museum Speaker Event – Spies in Canada!
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday February 25th at 2pm in the second floor gallery for a fascinating look at what it takes to write a non-fiction book about spies in Canada!\n\nIndependent researcher\, writer\, and documentary producer Tom Mitchell will be speaking on his latest project the Kellock-Tashereau Inquiry a 1946 Royal Commission that investigated allegations by soviet defector Igor Gouzenko regarding Canadian spy rings selling secrets to the Soviet Union. The incident became known as the "Gouzenko Affair".\n\nThe author's research into the the probe of Russian espionage in Canada in 1946\, and the idioms or paradigmatic models of political discourse deployed by participants in this crisis\, including those brought before the inquiry for interrogation has turned into a book length project that is nearing completion. Thus\, Mitchell will be also discussing what it takes to research a non-fiction book length project and how to get the finished work published. His tips and advise will be invaluable to those wishing to embark on similar projects.\n\nStandard museum admission costs -$5 for seniors /$6 for adults to attend the event. Free for Museum Members. All funds go to supporting the upkeep of Daly House Museum and its collections.
