Together with Hotel and Restaurant Management, Culinary Arts opened the doors of its state-of-the-art educational facility in September 2007 at Assiniboine’s North Hill Campus. The site features heritage buildings and a picturesque landscape, with newly constructed and renovated classrooms and labs, plus a leading-edge teaching kitchen, theatre, and a 60-seat dining room.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support our Chef Instructors and students in a fast-paced team atmosphere to inspire the next generation of culinary students and pass on the love of food.
- Assist instructors in organizing course-related materials.
- Assist with evaluation processes.
- Monitor students to ensure they work safely in the kitchen.
- Collaborate with the team to order, receive, store, distribute and inventory supplies.
- Perform various food preparation, baking and cooking duties.
- Assist in our live-work integrated events.
Qualifications:
- A Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Culinary/Baking Program with experience in an adult education setting.
- Professional Cook (Red Seal) is considered an asset.
- Experience with inventory control systems for the food and beverage industry or the ability to create/use spreadsheets for inventory control
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily workload while also being able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
