2025 - Manager, Sport Facilities and Active Living - Healthy Living Centre

The Manager, Sport Facilities and Active Living is responsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of the Healthy Living Centre.  This role contributes to long-term recreation programming, maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders while fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all who use the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Manager, Sport Facilities and Active Living, is responsible for managing programming, facility usage, and fostering positive client relationships. This role coordinates the rental of facility spaces, including outdoor areas and parking, managing vendor contracts, and assists with operational needs for facility and campus recreation clubs including ensuring all third-party groups meet insurance and waiver obligations. The position is responsible for recruiting, developing and leading a team of full- and part-time staff. Additionally, the Manager, Sport Facilities and Active Living coordinates the maintenance of fitness equipment and works closely with Physical Plant for facility upkeep. It supports and collaborates on the development and delivery of safe sport initiatives.  Budget development and management are required of the Manager, along with other relevant duties as appropriate.

Qualifications

To be considered, candidates must possess a two- to three-year diploma in a relevant field such as leisure studies, recreation programming or facilities management with at least three (3) years’ related experience in a similar role.  A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in coordinating facility operations, recreational programming, and fostering positive community relationships, along with a solid understanding of health and safety standards to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for faculty, staff, and the public. They will also demonstrate strong leadership in managing unionized teams, particularly in settings where staffing needs may shift, while maintaining high standards of client service and operational efficiency.  Experience with interpreting, managing and developing budgets is required.  Being organized and detail-oriented is important to manage the many facets of this position.  Clear, effective and professional communication skills are vital as this position interacts with a wide range of stakeholders.

Salary: Managers & Professional Officers MPO -V, $90,739.00 – $114,815.00
