Grant Opportunity - Local Initiative's Grant 2024

Local Initiatives Program (LIP)
Community Futures Westman is a not-for-profit organization, funded through  PrairiesCan, to provide programs and services to support enterprise, community-based development, tourism incentives that lead to economic growth and employment in our region.
 
Purpose of the Local Initiatives Program
The purpose of the Local Initiatives Program is to strengthen our communities by supporting small scale- projects led by non-profit organizations and municipalities, that strive to enhance community economic development efforts and tourism. 
 
Community Economic Development (CED) means an inclusive, strategic, long-term, integrated, and community-driven approach to local economic development whereby a community takes responsibility for planning and implementing measures to improve their economic future, well-being, and quality of life.  These projects would vary considerably from one community to another and could include a wide range of local initiatives in areas such as tourism, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunities for specific client groups such as women, youth, Indigenous people, and members of official language minorities.
 
Funding Available:

  • Non repayable contributions of up to $3,000.00 of eligible costs
  • Applications will be received between April 15, 2024 and May 15, 2024 at 4:00 pm.

Eligible Projects:
  • Contribute to the economic development of the region and target community priorities for growth and development. Partnerships are encouraged.   (Please note that only one project per applicant per funding period will be accepted. Funding period is from Dec 1 -March 31)
  • Are Incremental (cannot have already been undertaken or relate to core operations of organization)
  • Cannot extend past March 31, 2025
  • One project per year per organization.
 
Eligible Costs:
  • Must relate directly to the project activities
  • Can be capital and non-capital costs
 
Ineligible Costs
  • Wages for current staff
  • Operating costs of ongoing operations (including basic websites)
  • Yearly Festivals
  • Leasehold improvements, construction, repairs
 
Note: Funding is limited, not all eligible projects will be approved.
 
Funding Approval Process:
The CF Westman CEDC Committee will review all completed applications and award funding based on the following criteria:
  1. New innovative projects that strive to enhance community economic development efforts and tourism. 
  2. Projects that have other partners involved
  3. Impact of organization’s activities on the community and region
 
Applications not accompanied by the required financial information and documentation will not be considered. The committee may recommend approvals up to a maximum of $3,000.00 for any single application.
Reporting Requirements: Any organization approved for funding must sign a written acknowledgement that the funds will be used for the purpose as they stated in their application and agreeing to provide a year end operational and financial updated on the organization by March 31, 2024. Failure to meet reporting requirements will disqualify applicants from future grant funding from Community Futures Westman.
Deadline for Applications: Completed applications and required documentation must be received by CF Westman by 4:00 p.m., May 15, 2024. Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Applications may be submitted to:
