Position Overview:
The Principal of the Centre for Adult Learning provides integrated leadership across faculty supervision and direct student support, ensuring the delivery of exceptional learning experiences that reflect the diverse needs of adult learners in Manitoba. Currently the College has two campus-based centres, one in Dauphin and one in Brandon, as well as centres in rural and remote communities. This position combines faculty leadership and program administration with student advising, engagement, and crisis support.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Instructional Leadership and Faculty Support
  • Provide leadership and supervision to teaching staff, including onboarding, coaching, evaluation, and professional development.
  • Support high-quality instruction rooted in adult learning principles and responsive to learner needs.
  • Facilitate collaborative instructional planning, curriculum adaptation, and resource development.
  • Promote an inclusive and accountable team culture that aligns with the college’s values and vision.
 
Program Administration
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Adult Learning Centre, including program planning, student recruitment, scheduling, registration oversight, attendance, and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and submission for learner tracking, funding, and outcome reporting.
  • Build strong relationships with internal departments and external partners to support program sustainability and growth.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, community engagement, and program renewal efforts.
 
Student Advising and Support
  • Provide personalized advising to learners on academic planning, accessibility, goal setting, transitions, and life barriers for complex advising and oversees general advising and registration support services.
 
Crisis Response and Student Wellbeing
  • Serve as the primary first responder for student wellness concerns, mental health issues, or behavioural challenges.
  • Coordinate with internal and external supports to ensure timely, compassionate, and appropriate intervention.
 
Institutional Participation and Leadership
  • Actively contribute to internal committees and working groups, including those focused on accessibility, Indigenous education, wellness, safety, and learning innovation.
  • Participate in SSA team meetings to inform cross-campus strategy, share student success trends, and collaborate on early intervention approaches.
 
Strategic Alignment and Community Engagement
  • Represent the ALC at college-wide events, student recruitment initiatives, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local schools, employers, and community organizations to support learner pathways.
 
Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in Education, Adult Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field is desired
  • Valid Manitoba teaching certification is required
  • Additional training in adult education, advising, or trauma-informed practice is considered an asset.
