EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – BRANDON AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Are You Ready to Lead and truly make an impact? Join BACF as an Executive Director and foster the growth of your community. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall operations of the Community Foundation. The incumbent creates and maintains community relationships to enhance knowledge of the Foundation and it’s funds, and to gain an understanding of community needs.  Leading a staff of one, the Executive Director will focus on fund development, and maintain and enhance community connection through presentations, events, and donor engagement.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead and drive the efforts to develop and achieve the goals of the strategic and operating plans.
  • Provide leadership and motivate the Board and other volunteers to carry out an active fund development program. 
  • Work in conjunction with the Fund Development Committee to prepare and implement plans and strategies through major gift and planned giving programs, including prospect identification and research, preparation of presentations to potential donors and community groups, gift solicitation and donor stewardship.
  • Create community awareness of the goals and objectives of the Community Foundation.
  • In conjunction with the Community Foundation's Treasurer, oversee the funds and other capital assets of the Foundation.
  • Work in conjunction with the Grants Committee to administer the charitable grants program.
  • Liaison with legal firms, accountants, financial advisors and other professionals, as required.
  • Serve as custodian of all books, records and instruments belonging to the Community Foundation; maintenance of all financial records and accountability for funds received and grants administration; and maintaining appropriate confidentiality and privacy with this information.
  • Provide support to the Board of Directors and committees in the organization of meetings and events including agendas, supporting documents and follow-up.
 
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Strong, proven community connection, relationship development, and leadership
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral
  • Capacity to develop and carry out strategic plans for the Foundation
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with donors and elected and non-elected community leaders.
  • Capacity to determine community needs and to evaluate funding requests with open-mindedness, mature judgment and imagination.
  • Comfortable in developing and conducting presentations to various group sizes.
  • Ability to raise funds through individuals, businesses, and other potential contributors.
  • Uphold the Foundation’s vision while having a strong understanding of the role philanthropy plays in the community’s wellbeing.
