Position Overview:
As an Instructor in our Culinary Arts program, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of culinary education. Reporting to the Chairperson, you will develop and deliver curricula, evaluate student performance, and engage in various administrative functions. You will also support college promotion, student recruitment, student placement, and industry liaison.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in Culinary Arts and Baking Technology, integrating theoretical and practical learning in both classroom and kitchen settings.
  • Develop, update, and implement course curricula, objectives, and assessment strategies to align with industry standards and educational best practices.
  • Prepare and organize course materials and learning resources while maintaining accurate student records, including evaluations and attendance.
  • Mentor students in planning, executing and evaluating work-integrated learning opportunities, such as banquets, buffets, and fine dining restaurant service, ensuring hands-on, real-world learning experiences.
  • Foster industry partnerships to enhance student learning through guest lectures, field visits, competitions and collaboration with local businesses.
  • Stay current with emerging culinary trends, techniques, and technologies, incorporating them into instruction and curriculum development.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment that reflects cultural awareness, diversity, and respect for global culinary traditions while preparing students for diverse workplace settings.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives, curriculum planning, and continuous program improvement efforts while supporting student success.
 
Qualifications:
  • Red Seal (Professional Cook) Designation with extensive industry experience in culinary arts principles, theories, and best practices.
  • A bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or Education, is an asset.
  • Experience teaching adults, particularly in diverse and multicultural settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with students, colleagues, and industry professionals.
  • Proficiency in technology-enhanced teaching, including learning management systems and industry-relevant tools. 
  • Ability to adapt to evolving industry trends, including sustainability and global culinary influences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, leadership, mentorship, and continuous learning to support student success.
