Salary: $65,184 to $102, 262 annually ($34.58 to $54.25 hourly)
(Educational Supplemental: Masters $1.59/hour; PhD $3.19/hour)

As an Instructor in Allied Health at Assiniboine College, you will design, deliver, and evaluate curriculum that reflects current industry standards and supports diverse learners in inclusive, engaging environments. Using innovative teaching strategies and educational technologies, you’ll foster accessibility, critical thinking, and skill development while guiding students in integrating theory and practice. Beyond the classroom, you’ll contribute to program planning, student advising, and industry engagement, all within a college committed to equity, sustainability, and innovation.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspire and engage learners by sharing your expertise and passion for allied health, creating dynamic classroom, lab, and clinical experiences that prepare students for real-world success.
  • Design, develop and deliver curriculum and learning resources that reflect current industry standards, regulatory requirements, and diverse learner needs.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely feedback, while offering academic guidance and mentorship to support professional growth.
  • Leverage educational technologies and the College’s learning management system (LMS) to deliver accessible, interactive, and student-centered learning across in-person, online, and blended formats.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and industry partners to enhance programs, promote innovation, and create opportunities for student placements and community engagement.
  • Model professionalism and uphold College values, including equity, sustainability, Indigenization, and innovation, through teaching, advising, and participation in institutional initiatives.
 
Required Qualifications:
 
  • Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Radiation Technology, or Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology from an accredited or approved program.
  • Appropriate licensure and/or certification
    • If a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist:
      • Successful completion of the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists (ACCLXT) certification exam.
    • If a Medical Laboratory Technologist:
      • Current licensure and good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM), or eligibility for licensure.
      • Certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
    • If a Medical Radiation Technologist:
      • Successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification exam.
      • A member in good standing with CAMRT-MB and CAMRT.
    • Education and work experience that has led to a designation as MLT(X) or MRT(X) will also be considered eligible for the instructor position.
  • Minimum two years of recent experience in the healthcare environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, collaborate effectively in diverse teams, adapt to change, and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving in a dynamic learning environment.
  • Ability to work confidently in a digital environment, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and a willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies (e.g., AI tools) and college-supported platforms.
  • A commitment to fostering student success, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning is essential.
 
Asset Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience.
  • Work experience spanning multiple disciplines.
  • Previous experience in adult education and/or curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), either as a user or facilitator.
  • Knowledge of accreditation requirements and submissions.
  • Committee involvement in the areas of safety, quality, and/or patient initiatives.
